Is Wonder Woman DC's First Hit ?

With prior Warner Brothers DC Universe films failing to stick with viewers, "Wonder Woman" was the Justice League film comic fans were clinging to. I decided to not watch any trailer, to walk into the viewing with no assumptions. My background on Wonder Woman is not as detailed as other Justice League members so I hoped it would remind me of her backstory.

This action-packed film gave us everything we wanted from a Wonder Woman solo movie. As an advocate for "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Suicide Squad", I understand why fans and viewers were angry. They lacked backstories and left many scenes unexplained leading to fans wondering --no pun intended-- where DC would continue after "Suicide Squad" (BvS Doesn't Deserve The Hate). With both "Justice League" (2017) and "Aquaman" (2018) nearing release, DC needed a movie to put the naysayers in their place and Wonder Woman was right on time for that.

The difference between "Batman V Superman","Suicide Squad" and "Wonder Woman" is that Wonder Woman felt more organic and fluid. I wish the same from DC in the upcoming films because even though people, myself included, loved the films, they left a bad taste in the mouth's of their core fan base. 'Rushed' can not be used as a description of Wonder Woman. Each scene held importance and related back to the overall theme of the movie and each character had a reason for holding our attention.

Learning from the mistakes of those other movies, Director Patty Jenkins used her time wisely to show Princess Diana's growth as a warrior. From the beginning until her final fight, Diana grew and unlocked her powers displaying her Amazon-like strength becoming wonder woman. Jenkins never once wavered from this formula.

Wonder Woman's fight scenes were absolutely flames. So great, I was left jaw dropped from the middle until the end. Her hand to hand combat scenes with German soldiers gave us glimpses of what we have become accustomed to from comics. Not to be left undone was the fight scene with aries, who I do say could have been someone other than David Thewlis. Not to say he did not absolutely kill the part but his face just didn't match up with Aries.

Regardless, the animation of the fight and sequencing was fantastic and should continue with Justice League approaching.

The ending left much to be discussed. Like how Diana found that there is both good and evil in people and no superhero can stop humans from choosing which side. It's the perfect message for today's society and Jenkins gave more life lessons intertwined with the story to help drive what Wonder Woman stands for.

I've seen Wonder Woman twice already and love it so much. But with each viewing I feel like I missed a ton of easter eggs and foreshadowing. That just tells me Jenkins knew what she was doing with this film--if you feel like you caught all the easter eggs let me know at (@TheFlysh). With that, it leaves me wanting to revisit this movie again to try to catch everything I missed. I've definitely got to re-watch the fight scenes because how well they were done.

In the future, I hope DC follows this model with all its solo movies on the horizon and give the fans what they want with their own twist. "Wonder Woman" left me wanting more.
